How's December in your Salon?

I hope you are finding it's a busy time in your salon.

The wholesalers are predicting a quiet time this Christmas.  Now come on folks,  share here to say why are you busy and what do you do special that other quieter salons could do with help with?

You know my feelings by now,  I feel the market is excelling in:

Blow dry and styling (which had got very boring with the sleek straight look so needed a change)

But we are not doing so great in colouring techniques.  Clients need to see more colour happening.  So encourage them while they are with you this season.  Get them to try something new.

As for your salon,  could you extend your opening hours?  What are you prepared to do to ensure you turnover a profit in the next couple of months?

Have you thought about January being a great time to build team motivation?  Did you hold staff performance reviews or appraisals this year?  If not,  how would your staff know if they were going great or not?  How can you give them weak areas to improve on?  Let me know if you need help with these areas.  There's no shame in admitting,  "I'm a great stylist but not such a great manager."

If you are a salon the tis independent and miss the "area manager" to run ideas by or need someone to forecast your budgets for you and hold the staff meetings,  appraisals or mentor yourself then please get in touch.  January is a great time to start your fresh ideas for 2014.

So,  think about what you are doing right now that is outstanding for your clients.

Best wishes this week….

Louise
